When brake linings are manufactured, they are made to a set radius to fit the brake shoe and brake drum dimensions. Early brake linings were made from woven material, which was formed to the desired radius. Later linings were moulded oversize and then ground on the inside and outside radiuses to suit. The greater the difference between the outside radius of the lined shoe and the brake drum, the longer the bedding in process will take. The brake will not be fully efficient untill the bedding in process is complete.

We offer Riveting Tools. We also stock a comprehensive range of copper brake and clutch lining rivets. There are also FERODO pattern roll set punches, which ensure correct rivet fitting. See the RIVETING section for more information.

We offer Brake Shoe Relining. Brake shoes and bands of all types, whether made of steel or aluminium, can be relined by either riveting or bonding with specialist thermosetting adhesive. The material used depends greatly upon the application the components are used for - some materials are only suitable for bonding. We can discuss your requirements at the time of your enquiry, and, given some basic dimensions, can also quote prices at the same time.

We offer Pre Selector Gearbox Bands. Oil emmersed gearbox pre selector bands for car and bus can be relined by riveting or bonding. Below is a sample of previous work.

We offer clutches. We can supply clutch facings in various materials for most applications in organic or metal sintered material. These can be pre-drilled or blank, and in a full range of sizes and thicknesses. Heavy duty and kevlar high performance materials available.

We offer non asbestos friction materials. Brake and clutch lining materials are basically manufactured in two ways: woven material which, as the name implies, is a fibre cloth impregnated with resins and other agents to give specific qualities. moulded material, which is a granular medium, again with added resins and fillers. we supply all types of materials in roll or sheet form

FERODO pattern roll set punches are a must when fitting brake linings to shoes. Not only do they enhance the finished product, but also ensure that the linings are secure on these safety critical components. This cannot be achieved by hammering the rivet flat.
