Most trade finance instruments are sent via SWIFT MT 700 & 760. MT stands for message type. Where a pre-advice is required, they are sent via MT799 (authenticated) i.e. through RMA (Relationship Management Agreement) Bank or MT999 as free format directly to the receiving bank. Often instruments are also sent via MT998 with sub message 799 or 760 etc. for quick receipt by the beneficiary bank.
